(Draught at Foeders, Amsterdam, 29 Feb 2020) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, orange peel and treacle-toffee. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, dried apricots, caramel, tropical fruit, black-currant and a generous spicy/citric bitterness in a slightly vinous finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Some alcohol shining through, but overall great balanced between sweet caramelly malt and lots of citric, spicy hops. Very nice.

Golden colour with light haze and thin head. Aroma and flavour a syrupy sweet malt base with floral and resinous bitter hops. Nice balance of bitter and sweet.

14 December 2019. At 2nd Great Timternational Beer Tasting. Cheers to Ghent beer crew! Clear orange, quickly thinning, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe orange, mango, grapefruit juice, biscuit, honey, cheese, gin. Taste has sweet orange & mango, honeyish & biscuity malt connecting with bitter grapefruit & mandarin peel, slightly dank & piney. Dry, resinous & piney hoppy finish, lingering ripe fruit flesh & rinds, boozy alcohol hinting at gin. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Juicy, aromatic & assertive, very good!

Ambitious IPA by Uiltje, a West Coast IPA with ten different hop varieties, so a 'zoo' of hops so to speak; thanks to Craftmember for sharing the can. Egg-white, mousy, medium thick, dense, slowly dissipating head, misty deep warm orange blonde robe with amberish tinge. Aroma of blood orange juice, marmalade, bread crust, dry marijuana, cognac, lime zest, kumquat, gin, bitter honey, olive oil. Clean, sweetish onset, notes of marmalade, guava and blood orange but still remaining quite restrained in sweetness, fizzy carbonation but in a refined way suitable for this kind of beer, biscuity and sweet cracker-like malt base underneath a very brightly citrusy hoppiness, pink-grapefruity and blood orange-like with side notes of lime juice, olive oil, lychee and papaja, highlighted by a gin-like alcohol glow; long but - for what is intended as West Coast - relatively gentle bitterness, bit powdery in the end. West Coast-ish indeed but still clearly under the influence of the global hazy IPA idiom, boozy but refined, bright and never boring: this is how I like my IPAs cooked. Wonderful and one of Uiltje's best in the general IPA category so far for me.
