Old Peculier is a beautiful, yet very simple beer, brewed using a very generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley with two bitter hops combined with the majestic and noble ‘Fuggle’ hop to produce a beer of awesome full-bodied flavour with subtle cherry and rich fruit overtones. It tastes superb when accompanied by rich stews, strong cheeses and sweet puddings.

Old rating from Nov 2014 - 500ml bottle, pours a very dark brown with a beige creamy head. Aromas & tastes of fortified wine, dried fruits, plum pudding, toasted bread & hints of spice. Medium body. Dry mildly bitter finish.

Bottle. Brown, no head. Warmth, raisins, herbal, caramel. Fizzy, front heavy. Not as sweetness as expected. Flower, caramel, roasted, toffee. Weak body. Not bad.

From cask at Grove, Huddersfield, 28.03.25. Dark brown. Persistent brown head. Slightly acidic aroma and taste of crowberrries, dark malt and tobacco. Quite dry. Perhaps the cask is over its top.

Bottle in England. Aroma is lots of malt, caramel, toffee, buttery, dried fruity notes, some apple. Flavour is medium sweet. Body is medium. Not too impressed with this one.

Cask at the Flute & Flagon, Solihull. Reddish brown pour with smooth beige head and great lacing. Sweet malts with a nutty, bread, mineral and fruity light sour berry. Smooth as you like with a soft carbonation. Still a classic and this one was in very good condition.
