Smooth and flavorful, Special Amber has been our flagship beer ever since 1985. So easy drinking it’s perfect for any occasion. Start with the creamy head, golden color and impressive hop nose. Then sip back and enjoy the masterful balance of semi-sweet and bready malts with choice hops. When you reach the dry, slightly hoppy finish, you’ll understand why Special Amber is such a popular beer.

From a pounder bottle. looks like a darker hefe. A little soapy on the olfactory, but otherwise nuetral. Yes, vienna in nature, has that smooth malty thing going on, nearly has a gag reflex from the cloying sweetness which is so common in this style. Yes, seems a little higher in the alky content than listed. Vienna, a beer that takes some getting used to for me. Finosh is what else but sweet malty medicine. Not nearly as good as Atwater Rost or Spendrups Pistonhead Plastic Fantastic

Can @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a clear dark orange appearance with a big, fluffy, cream colored head. Toasted malty, corn, herbal, husky, grainy, fairly bitter cracker aroma. Tangy, bitter woody, grassy, husky, grainy malty flavor. Kind of a rough texture. Tastes like shit to me, but so has everything else tonight, so fuck it.

Bottle, smallish head, quite clear dark orange to light brown colour, malty oxidised aroma with some dried fruits, caramel and bready sweetness with some herbal hops. Not too exciting.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma has nice toasty maltiness, some bread, caramel notes, a bit of nuts, light grainy hints, and some slightly floral hops. Sweetish malty flavor with some caramel and a bit of toasted bread, finishes moderately bitter with some hops, somewhat floral/herbal. Medium-bodied. A nice quaffable Lager.

Sampled at Great Lakes Brew Fest in Racine, WI. Amber lager in appearance, aroma faint. Pretty light, good malt finish. Not bad but not memorable.

Bottle. Pours amber with a slight white head. Lightly bready aroma. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is roasted caramel, but there is a good amount of grassy bitter to tamp down the sweet. Better than a macro lager.

16oz bottle. Filtered orange tan color. Malty and sweet, with minimal hop balance. Pretty straightforward stuff, a cut above macro-swill. Smooth and medium bodied, with some amber malt tastes. Drinkable and sessionable, but nothing that Id seek out.

16 oz. bottle from daknole. Thanks Dakine! Pours a golden red color with a one finger head, moderate retention and low lacing. Very strong toasted malt aroma with some light floral hop notes. Taste is toasted malts, grain, caramel and cinnamon-like spices. Almost like a pumpkin spice ale. Medium bodied with thin spots here and there.

Bottle. Light caramel malt aroma. Amber with a small head. Light caramel malt flavor with a light hops finish. A subtle beer - nothing too bold with this beer.

This beer came in my beer club - I am not familiar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a medium sized foamy yellow-white head. The aroma was tangy, nutty and vaguely off - but not quite skunky. The flavor was lightly bitter, yeasty and tangy with a dryish finish.
