Very similar to Upper Canada Dark
A slight malt aroma with some metallic, and ink aromas also. Flavor is harsh, and bitter, with some odd cardboard notes. yuck.

(Tap) Clear red brown with pale tan head. Aroma of toffee malt. Medium body with nice smooth carbonation. Taste is toffee malt and herbal hoppy bitterness. Pleasant enough but for me the bitterness is a bit harsh and metallic.

New England Bucket List Trip #140. Keg. Pours a clear red with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, raisin, toffee. The taste is raisin, toffee, grain, mild grassy hops. Thin bodied.

Full disclosure - I’m picky about Rousses at the best of times, and given Sleeman’s track record, I’m not optimistic; but I am one with an open mind and do believe that even macro breweries can make a fine beer once in awhile. It pours with an antique white pillow of head of modest size and a clear brown-amber body with no carbonation. It has a very faint aroma of rice wine adjuncts and malt. The flavour is sweet malts with a cloying rice finish; almost drinkable, plenty of sweetness to create a decent mouthfeel. But those are only minor points for a beer that is still not very good at all.

Called "Sleeman Rousse" in the province of Quebec. Pours a copper-amber colour with an off-white creamy head. Decent retention and lacing. Malty nose with some light sweetness, like caramel (also fruity), and well-balanced with some mild hop. Medium-bodied with the malt and hop present in the taste as well. Nothing too punchy, but a nice refreshing macro amber overall.

Bouteille 341ml.

Pours an off-white head that descends quickly but leaves some lacing. Amber brownish body... but htat should be obvious simply by looking at the bottle. Yeast and malts in the aroma... not too bad aroma overall. Ok malty taste. Mediocre metallic finish... which is probably the worst thing about this beer. Slightly sweet though. Drinkable, but there are plenty of better beers out there, so there is really no reason to buy this exccept as another notch in your belt.

As Sleeman Original Dark 50* Amber Ale. Caramel aroma with herbal notes. Dark amber color with an ephemeral white head. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is caramel with floral hop. Seems well balanced. There is a lot of flavor here. Very nice ale. Finishes decently bitter.
