A special combination of roasted barley malts and English Aroma hops gives Sleeman Rousse·Dark its balanced taste and clean finish. This medium-bodied brown has ruby hues and a dense tan foam. Its roasted malt flavours feature hints of caramel and toasted grains for a well-balanced, aromatic ale with an impressively clean finish. (previously Original Dark)

Ok, it says amber ale on the label so I’m confused. Off aroma in its own special way, like a couple of other sleemans I’ve opened. Certainly not as bitter as an ale and its is some what lagerlike. Not a great american dark lager but is Ok by general lager criteria. As an amber ale way above average but as an american dark lager, not in the same class as George Killians Irish Red .

Bottle. Sour milk malt aroma. Dark amber color with small head. Sour malt and light grassy hops flavor. A better than average lager.

Pour is a brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a small amont of malts. Flavor is about the same, a small amount of malts and not much else. Pretty watery and bland.

This beer is a clear brown color with a thin light beige head. Very thin lacing also. Light malt and nuts in the nose. Light-bodied and a little sweet, with some malt flavor along with a touch of hops. What little flavor that is present gives up the ghose pretty quickly though. The finish is clean and lightly hoppy but that falls off just as fast. Decent for very brief periods.

Bottle: Poured a clear light dark beer with no head and minimal carbonation. Aroma is quite weak with some roasted malt being noticeable. Taste is also sub par with a watery feeling ruining the whole thing.

The rep told me they make this with "dark crystals." I asked what a dark crystal, and she didn’t know either. Some malt in the aroma. Taste of a low end bock. An ok, smooth beer.

This Dark poured a nice dark red colour with a light tan creamy head. Metallic malt scents with a little caramel. First taste was very easy going. Roasted malts with a little brown sugar. Finish was slightly bitter with not much lingering. The bitterness was the only taste left.

I dont know what it is, but I did like this. Lots of sour molasses, some bittersweet caramel malt. Tastes like adjuncts as well, but not terribly so. Interesting light breadiness on the finish. Clear reddish-amber color. small head, alcohol and sweet malt smell. Grainy texture, lightly carbonated.
