This medium to full bodied ale is a deep brown color with notes of chocolate and nut flavors. It has a subtle hop bitterness and chocolaty aroma. This is the perfect holiday beer for the season.

Dark roasted barley malt, walnut, and just a touch of cocoa. Black with a thin yellow head. Smoky and tastes of burned meat and a little like asparagus. Very subdued bitter dark chocolate and grass finish. Solid ABA, not outstanding, and not very chocolatey.

Clear, deep garnet body that supports a creamy light brown head. Caramel and cocoa dominate the aroma. Lightly sweet, not too much hop bitterness, A touch of sourness, combined with a thin body throws this off the mark a bit.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Off-white head with good retention. Cocoa and malt aromas. Cocoa front to back with a dry finish.

Draught at Hop Devil, NYC
Amber color. A very common Amber Ale, with very little to say about.

12 oz bottle. Nice amber color with thin light brown head. The aroma is toffee, earthy, stale coffee grounds and a bit of caramel malts. The flavor is bits of toffee floating around the edges of a big coffee taste. I also taste some caramel and a hint of spicy hops.

On label of 12 oz brown bottle a cold winter cloud is blowing on a home, I hate winter. Smells roasty and wet. Pours transparent very dark brown. Has decent carbonation tho less than average. Commences with a roasty malty flavor, very little chocolate if any. It’s more like black coffee. Finish is a continuous linger of bitter. Other brown ales are better and less offensive.

Deep translucent red-brown body, medium creamy tan head. Toasty aroma with strong chocolate notes. The body begins with chocolate and toast, leading to nuts and light hints of tart grape before an overwhelming metallic finish crushes the palate, turning my tongue into a roughly two-dimensional piggy bank of sorts. Not even the U.S. Mint could pull this off. Otherwise the body is soft on the palate. I really like some aspects of this beer, but the metallic aftertaste hurts my rating.

My first beer from this brewer. Beer had a nice and subtle smell and the chocolately taste was not apparent until I tasted it. It tasted a little bit like an oatmeal stout in my opinion. Big on the chocolate flavour and big on a thick nice head. A pretty good beer with a cool label.

Not as hearty as one would expect a winter ale to be, but as a brown ale, it is certainly unique - quite spicy and nutty, with loads of dry cocoa and slight sweetness - subtle background caramel and bready malt - not great, but quite drinkable.
