Zenne Pils was brewed with the traditional method of decoction. This adds depth and complexity to its malty character, and makes it very nicely drinkable. It is neither pasteurised nor filtered, which makes it naturally hazy at low temperatures. It develops a fine bitterness, more pronounced than that of the “pils” we are used to drink in Belgium today. Moreover, it is generously hopped with old varieties of German hops that are considered to be the most noble ones, and which the Brasserie de la Senne brewmaster directly selected at one of the best hop growers’ of the South of Germany. 4,9% abv, keg only.
The logo was designed by the brewery’s resident artist, Jean Goovaerts. The Brussels pentagon recalls our national symbol, the Atomium, as well as -and most importantly- the imminent move of the brewery to its new site of Tour & Taxis, situated in the “1000 Brussels” commune.

0.33l bottle from Goblet. Hazy yellow/pale golden body, lasting, big white head. Flowery-herbal honeyish aroma, fruity undertones. Flowery-herbal, soft maltiness, vaguely citric, solid bitter finish. Excellent, clean, attractive, very hoppy pils! Huge props! Bit too dry, good.

Third, draught at Brownhill & Co. Remaining white head, misty golden body, lacing rings down the glassware. inviting smell of grass, orange, and grain. Succulent taste character of noble hops, grainy malts, and moments of yeasty fruitiness. Drying close, with satisfying bitterness. Nice pilsner version. (Leeds 05.07.2022).
