Bottle @ Belgium. Pours slight unclear yellow with a small lasting White head. Bread , yeast, grass and slight citrus. Super smooth and dry mouthfeel. Clean. Bottle is from mid May -20 , 2 months old. And Will be faded and gone in a minute.

The first lager by de la Senne as far as I know, developed under the supervision of a German brewer - after Nest's Troef, the second German style Pilsener from Belgian soil I'm tasting tonight. True, lager brewing in Belgium began in Brussels in 1886 (Wielemans) and it makes sense for de la Senne to reinstall production of the genre in our capital, but I have a gut feeling that the growing international attention for lagers in craft brewing also plaid its part here as a source of inspiration. Medium thick, snow white, frothy and very stable head lacing in patches over a misty, pale and pure golden blonde beer - clearly an unfiltered lager, like German Kellerbier or Zwickelbier, or indeed the many more 'artisanal' (I guess we would say 'craft' these days) pilseners brewed regionally in Belgium decades ago. Aroma of flour, freshly cut grass, very lightly toasted white bread, field flowers, green apple hint, unripe banana even, baking soda, dry clay, pumice. Clear, crisp onset, some vague and subordinate fruity aspects from the yeast (green apple, hard pear, very vague unripe banana) but otherwise largely neutral as expected, minerally carbonation which acts out its important influence here without distracting from the flavour; slender bready pale malt sweetish body with a lovely bread crumb-like yeast effect underneath, highlighted with floral, grassy, convincing and refreshing hoppiness, rather spicy-bitter in the end, medium long and very quenching, with field flower- and hay-like aspects retronasally, as 'noble' and old school European as it gets. Interestingly, there is a recognizable Senne quality in the background, a kind of bitter yeastiness that typifies all of their non-sour beers - a subtle Brussels touch to an otherwise credible old-fashioned Central European style pale lager. Well done in its genre - who said that Belgium has no good lagers? Apart from the fact that they have always been around (though admittedly hard to find and unknown for long stretches of time) ever since lager was first introduced here, I have the impression that more and more of these forward-looking, smaller breweries in Belgium are dedicating themselves to creating a sincerely good, well-crafted lager and this one certainly belongs in that gallery. Then again, I did not expect anything less from the trusted Senne guys that they could pull it off...

33cl bottle from Rob the Gourmets’ Market in Brussels. F: medium, white, good retention. C: yellow, light hazy. A: malty, light spicy hoppy, grassy, caramel touch, floral. T: medium malty base, dry herbal, decent long lasting bitterness, bready, bit different beer for my ideal pils yet quite nice balanced and refreshing, enjoyed.

Bottle from Etre Gourmet. It pours lightly hazy golden with s thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh and crispy, grassy, lemon sherbet, lemon verbena, fresh mint, some greenness and pithy citrus. The taste is crisp and snappy, drying, good bitterness, grassy, lightly herbal, hint of mint, minerals, pithy citrus, lemon, doughy bread and cracker with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Crisp and snappy. Moreish and quenching.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bottled 19 May 20. Golden, slightly hazy body, with a big, fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of bread, grass, flowers, hay, fresh herbs, pine, citrus. Tastes similar, with a crisp dryness. Medium, slightly creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation. Finishes dry, bitter, floral, herbal, piney, citric, grassy, a bit grainy. Very nice. Classic style example, crisp and dry, with lots of hoppy notes and a quite slim body. Not among my favorite Pilsners, while really refreshing. Score: 7 / 4 / 7 / 4 / 15

21/VI/20 - 33cl bottle from the brewery, shared @ home, BB: 19/II/21, bottled: 19/V/20 (2020-546)

Slightly cloudy blond to yellow beer, big irregular foamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, grains, grassy hops, some marijuana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty start, grains, hay, pretty bitter, dry hops, bit grassy. Aftertaste: good bitterness, dry, bit grassy, very hoppy, good stuff, very nice Czech style pilsener!

Tap at Lagerhuys. Clear golden with white head. Quite some green grassy hops, pils malts, soft dough, a floral touch, creamy grains with dry grain husks. Under medium sweet and medium bitter. Medium bodied with crisp feel. OK pils.

Bouteille 33cl, bottled 19/05/2020, BB 19/02/2021.
Dorée, léger paille, col blanc.
Arôme au nez fin de grains concassés - pils, houblonné plaisant qui perce bien en rétro et apporte des notes nobles - fruitées/citron et légèrement terreuses.
Palais présente une signature classique DLS, caractère marqué sec - grains - malt pils - le houblonné reste classique apportant un profile noble, fleuri, finement fruité et terreux.
Crisp et rafraîchissante.

Finalement, la bonne pils bruxelloise et aucune raison de continuer à acheter l'industriel.

Can shared@Himmeriget, Copenhagen (15/02/2020) - golden clear pour with a white head. Grassy bitter and sweet bready malty, with notes of straw, hay, grass, sweet malty backing, medium body, bitter hoppy finish.
