Stone Aggro Agronomist IPA
Featuring hops from Perrault Farms in Toppenish, Washington

Getting all aggro can sometimes be a negative. Getting aggro with your hops however? Awesome. (Try singing that aloud in your best Stone Aggro heavy metal falsetto). Equally awesome: getting aggro with hop agronomy. It's often a tradition passed down through generations, as is the case with Perrault Farms in Toppenish, Washington. Since 1928, the Perrault family and friends have honed their craft to breed new hop varieties with ever more awesome (sing it again) flavors and aromas. This beer features the powerhouse hop Citra as well as two new varieties - Sabro and the as-of-yet unnamed HBC 692. These new beauties balance classic citrus notes with intriguing hints of coconut, herbs and stone fruit. We've gotten aggro many times with our beers since 1996. So a tip of the hat to aggro agronomists like the Perrault family who give us the tools to aggressively propel our craft forward.

Grapefruit and lilly nose. Clear amber, medium head. Rosehip and grapefruit. Medium body, moderately carbonation, slightly resinous. Kind of a throwback. Refreshing change from the juicy fruit and milkshake IPAs of the day.

12 ounce can into tulip glass; canned on 6/12/2019, best before 10/10/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, coconut, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, coconut, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, coconut, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, anf fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Awesome Citra, Sabro, HBC 692 profile. Extremely vibrant, juicy, dank, and earthy hops; with a great clean pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on West Coast style example as expected of the brewery.

From a 355ml can on 21/8/2019. Pours a clear light golden with a medium bright white head. Has a fairly strong citrus and pine nose. Tastes fresh and clean, with oddles of lemon and lime, some orange, with a firm, almost tangy, herbal, pine hop bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A typically excellent IPA from Stone - bold yet balanced.

12 oz can from a six pack, rated on paper up the river a couple days ago. Aroma is citrus peel, pineapple. Pours lightly hazy golden with a one finger bone white head with good retention. Taste is moderate to highly bitter with flavors of the aroma descriptors, along with a coconut note that I didn't get from the nose. Good.

On draught at Frontier Brewing and Taproom.

It pours a clear corny yellow with the usual excellence of foam, foam retention and lacing for Stone beers.

Big notes of pine, dankness, melon in the smell.

Taste is pine, melon, mild onion, it's dank but at a tolerable level. Some grass sneaks in with further sips.

Good mouthfeel, good IPA.
