An India pale ale packed with whole tangerine & pineapple
Imagine the tropical haze of a lazy afternoon- into-evening. Your official duties for the day have been to maybe take a hike to a secluded waterfall, perhaps grill something, definitely chill with plenty of sand between your toes…and crack a phenomenal beer to complete the experience. Check, check, check again and…pfffft…check.
This ain’t no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.
Working with fruit can be amazing and so using amazing quality fruit is key to achieving that wonderful freshness. The high-end pureed fruit selected here blends exceptionally well with the aroma and flavors from the hops, creating a multi-layered IPA that also has fresh hoppy dankness and bitterness that superbly rounds out this beer.

On tap at Både&. It pours an unclear orange coloured beer with a creamy finger thick head leaving lacing. The aroma is quite piney, with orange zest, resin and a pleasant malty touch. It's full bodied, semi-dry and nicely carbonated, with a good bitterness. Orange zest, pine cones and some malts in the flavor. Lasting orange and pine cones finish with lots of bitterness. Delicious, but a bit one dimensional. 180914

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is murky (tons of small, dark floaties) orange-yellow with greenish tinge, fair sparkle, 3-finger width foamy white head with decent retention and light, leggy lacing. Aroma is strong tangerine as soon as I popped the StaTab, pine, milder tropical fruit/citrus with transient whiff of herb. Taste is sweet fruit quickly met by dry bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation with mild pleasant alcohol warmth and sweet then very dry bitter end. Overall, a more intriguing aroma than taste, which is just OK.

Stone Berlin Unican-burk från SB. Smådisig brandgul med vitt skum. En del bitar i (från frukten?). Lite sött fruktigt och kakigt med toner av clementinskal, apelsinsylt och grape med ananas lägnre bak och en lite diesel-aktig eftersmak tillsammans med sötma från alkoholen.

Keg at Draft House Seething Lane, 29/08/18. Hazed orange amber witj a decent egg shell white covering. Nose is orange pith, straw, toasted grains, grass, breads. Taste comprises tangerines, grass, light breads, melon, citric pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness. Ok ... wasn't overly sold on this one!
