A thin white head on a dense, unfiltered golden body. A punchy, fresh grapefruit nose. This is a classic big west coast DIPA. Fruity and bitter hops feature grapefruit, fruit rind, pineapple and a splash of orange. Fresh and juicy, supported by clean, sweet malt with a solid body.

650ml bottle.
Slightly hazy golden/copper pour, with a medium white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, papaya, kiwi, and some sweet citrus. Mouthfeel is medium, and a touch viscous, with a solid carb. The finish is quite bitter, you can tell this is a palate thrasher. Medium to high bitterness, with quite a bit grapefruit pith, and citrus zest. The alcohol is present, but not in flavor, just slightly in warming and body. A nice imperial IPA.

Got in a BIF from Coronaeus. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 3/28/2019. Pours lightly hazy medium golden amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a delicious DIPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Feels like a lot of Columbus/Citra. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; great balancing bready oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, well made, and classic tasting West coast style example.

Obtenue via échange, cette bière est succulente!!! C’est plus minéral et rond en bouche que les comparables... L’alcool est somme toute très discret. Il y a une belle finale poivrée. Encore!!!!!

Bottle from the LCBO. Very cloudy amber with a two finger off white head that clings to the glass all the way down. Nose is grapefruit, citrus peel, pine, mango, light honey and some floral notes. This is all about the bitterness which is grapefruit and pine from start to finish with enough of a light sweet malt support to provide some balance and it all integrates the alcohol quite well. Mouth is medium full with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. More. 9+/4+/8/4/18-

Bomber from the LCBO, written 8.5% ABV. Pours a slight hazy golden-amber colour with a warm cap, frothy, long lasting with foamy-soapy lace. Aromas start off on pure grapefruit with its zest. Later, notes of pine needles and mild caramel appear. Well-balanced dry mouthfeel with some medium-bodied wetness and crispness. Again, lots of grapefruit in the taste and not as much caramel as in most DIPA. Alcohol is well-hidden so goes down nicely. Feels more like a normal IPA, which is a compliment.

650mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out fresh citrus and resinous hops, some pine, oranges, and a big caramel malt backbone. Flavour brings out bitter citrus rinds, resinous hops, a touch of tropical fruits, and a big caramel malt backbone that never cloys. Big n bold, with a thick malt backbone providing ample balance for the truckload of hops. Excellent.
