12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/4/2018. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a small fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, fudge, brownie batter, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Some barrel booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with big strength. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, fudge, brownie batter, nuts, dark/brown bread, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 13%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mellowly bitter/chared/tannic/drying finish. Insanely rich malt complexity, with amazing barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy/tannic on barrels. Definitely their thickest stout yet, but the tannic barrels and charred malts keep the sweetness in check. A highly enjoyable offering and amazing style example as expected.
