12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 11/23/2018. Pours slightly hazy golden/amber, light pink/orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart/tangy cranberries, fruit skin, spruce, lemon, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of pale/wheat malts, fruity yeast, cranberries, spruce, and mild earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy cranberries, fruit skin, spruce, lemon, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy cranberries, fruit skin, spruce, lemon, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of pale/wheat malts, fruity yeast, cranberries, spruce, and mild earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness and tart/tangy fruit balance; with no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and tart/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/tangy/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 5.8%. Overall this is a nice fruit wheat. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of pale/wheat malts, fruity yeast, cranberries, spruce, and mild earthy hop flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the mildly bitter/tart/drying finish. Would have preferred more fruit/spruce, but they had solid presence. Nicely balanced pale/wheat malts and fruity American wheat yeast; some cranberry/spruce; and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A nicely enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

On Tap slightly hazy dull orange with a huge fluffy white head. Light slightly sweet maltiness and a litel of the berry flavor comes though Dont pick up much if any of the claimed Spruce tips. Light and tasty.

12oz bottle. Filtered-looking pink orange body. Thin head. Pretty straightforward fruit beer. Zesty and bright, but with some mineral-ish vegetal tones as well. Not really mind blowing stuff, but drinkable. As other raters have mentioned, not sour, just some mild tartness from the fruit. Spruce is extra mild, but adds depth. OK.

Best by February 4th 2019.

It pours a mostly clear solid gold with a finger of foam. Nice lacing.

I get spruce and cranberry in the smell but they don't stand out. Tart in the name but a struggle to find it in the smell.

Cranberry weak. Spruce weak. Tartness weak. Earthy with some wheat character. Pretty bland.

Mouthfeel is good. That and the look are the best of what this beer offers.

Sampled from the tap at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Pours a hazy deep peach orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light tart cranberry note with a bit of spruce and a light grain backbone. Flavor has more of a sweet cranberry with light grain and a bit of spruce.

As many samples as I could get to get a good picture of this beer though poured into a small sample plastic cup.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange to yellow color with barely any head. Light lacing stuck and then slid in a decent filmy sort of way.
The smell had a sweet malty spruce to sweet citrusy to slight sweet pine, light caramel to vanilla even shows some strength.
The taste took those previously mentioned smells and combined eloquently to provide a super nice sweet to sticky malty back flavored sprucy caramel aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued but still good for the style and for me.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good ale that Alaskan was doing. I’d have it again.
