Double IPA

Undercover, Underwater. A core DIPA bursting with sweet and sticky Idaho 7, Citra, and Simcoe for a resinous, citrusy experience that makes this one of our favorites. Inspired by friendship and the melodic music of Delta Sleep.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours opaquely hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, bready, grainy, lightly sticky, and slightly resinous mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a fantastic NE DIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and pale malt flavors; extremely smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great mix of juicy, vibrant, and dank hop complexity; balanced malts, with no residual sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Wow. My least favorite brewer in the region actually managed to make a pretty tasty beer. I am truly shocked,. +++ Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a murky peach color with a large creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was dry with orange, lemon and a hint of tequila. The flavor was somewhat sweet and tangy with orange, tangerine, lemon and hints of leather and tobacco. Long tangy orange finish. Moderately full bodied. Alcohol well controlled. Solid.
