Bottle at home. Opaque black color, medium to full sized light brown colored head, but a bit fizzy and quickly disappearing. Aroma is malts, brown malts, roast, distant metallic hints, bourbon heavily. Flavor is malts, soft to medium roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, sweetish bourbon in the beginning and then a moderate bitter note. What a great balance, what a great beer. Delicious.

19.2oz stove pipe can, 10.75% ABV aged in bourbon barrels, pours with a nice deep dark colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, stewed plums, a dash of black licorice, chocolate and then some boozy bourbon. The taste comes across smooth and balanced with a blend of dark roasted malts, tangy sweet darky fruity esters like prunes and then some thin chocolate notes. To midway a modest level of bourbon, boozy vanilla and booze bubble to the surface to add a nice counter to the various sweet notes. This is a nice sipper.

Bottled 1/30/17 and shared by Chalameaux on 5/20/17.
Inky black monstrosity with an immediately-dispersing ring of tan bubbles.
Ashy, heavily black malt and roasted barley-centric nose is at least free from any pine or grapefruit-like hop character. Strong pepper-like phenols mix with strong alcohol and other intense esters. I guess it’s not overly fudgey, if we’re trying to say something nice.....
Ashy again, with just a phenomenally intense roasted barley character that shows tobacco, dry cocoa powder and baker’s chocolate. Big bready notes as well show a bit of a dearth of base malt influence here and the alcohol runs rampant as is the norm for CS. Soy and caramel linger on the finish, as well, and the carbonation is low, lightly loose.

Thanks to Chalumeaux on this bottle share. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, caramel. Flavor is bourbon, coffee, vanilla, burnt coffee bean, toffee. Really sweet, really good.

Flavor is excellent, bourbon is mild but comes through, nice full mouthfeel, great mixture of nuances. Very good.

Bottle poured into a teku showing unfiltered pitch black with no head. The nose shows a lot of bourbon and smoked wood. The palate is medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of smoke and bourbon.
