22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/6/2017. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, and brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, leather, tobacco, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. A bit of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, and brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, leather, tobacco, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, wood smoke, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, brown bread, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly drying from bitter roast and oak spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly slick/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a mild warmth with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial smoked stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/smoked malt and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Very rich, well balanced, and well rounded in complexity. Great barrel presence without being boozy/tannic; great stout flavors without being overly charred, acrid, or ashy. An extremely delicious offering.

Limited availability for Clown Shoes locally so this is only my second brew from them. Looks like another homerun. The 22 oz. bomber pours a midnight black body with a strong dark tan head that dissipates somewhat. The nose is great, molasses and dark currant. Taking a drink I encounter dark chocolate, coffee, a touch of brown sugar and a warning of the alcohol, quite warming. It follows with a significant bitterness lingering on the tongue. Pretty doggone swell.

Bomber from Cap Tap. Pours syrupy dark dark brown with a slight dark tan head. Aroma is mostly chocolate, but enough bourbon to unsettle the nose. Full bodied indeed. There’s a touch of heat, but not annoying, followed by chocolate, dark dark treacle and a decent amount of bourbon/vanilla. It’s not cloying, and it goes towards earthy chocolate after a bit - and it’s got some bitter from somewhere. I’m not really finding wood, but maybe that’s part of the earthiness. Quite a nice drink.

On tap at Stanley’s. Pours an oily black with a light brown head that starts at the edges and remains. Aroma has strong roasted malts with dark chocolate, dark grains and a bit of toffee. Flavor has boozy dark grains with bitter chocolate and a hint of roasted malts backing.
