ABV: 9.3% IBU: - Ticks: 16
Berry Monks is a variation on our classic Belgian Tripel, Merry Monks, brewed with cranberries, orange peel and ginger. This 9.3% ABV ale is ripe with apple and pear notes, which blend nicely with the tartness of the cranberries, the citrus twist of the orange peel and a touch of ginger. It’s great on its own or paired with your favorite holiday dish.

Sweet fruity fusel, cookie dough. A bit flat. Not sure what this intended to be.

Bottle from Bierothek online shop. Lightly pink-brown. The nose is pretty weird and herbal. The flavor is like some Myrte from Corsica mixed with other random herbs and blended in the beer. Not my favorite.

Bottle at Ratebeer tasting at Daves, Unterhaching, München, Friday 4th February 2022. Pours hazy dirty pink silvery with a white head, a little bit of boiled sweet, boozy fumes, it's not great.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with no head. Aroma is ginger, berries, zezty, phenols. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Alright.

Light pink coloured body with a glowing bronze and copper coloured body, all with a nice, relatively small, single centimetre tall head, just off-white. Aroma of alcohol, very astringent ginger, lemongrass, curacao and heavy yeast with a lot of wheat, grain, floral and fruity components, but the medicinal, very alcoholic and deeply bitter scents remain strong. Medium-bodied; Super assertive medicinal and astringent flavours dominate the flavour with alcohol, curacao, lemongrass, ginger and some tea notes show through, with a lot of wheat, yeast, pungent citrus and yes - more alcohol in the flavour. Aftertaste shows the deeply bittering malt, some strong grain and quite a bit of citrus to battle it out with the alcohol, medicine and bitter finishes. Overall, a very strong and pungent beer that does NOT show the benefits of adding berries or anything else to an already working American example of a Belgian Tripel - this was way too astringent, pungent and bittering, even after two years in the bottle! I can't imagine how strong this was if you sampled it fresh, but this is not a good option, sadly. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 09-March-2018 for US$2,09 sampled at home in Washington, just over two years later, on 10-March-2020.

Amber with a fleeting, foamy head. Fairly subpar optically—fades into inertness. Aroma is a mix of cranberries, pineapple and banana. Not picking up the ginger. Taste is not bad, with a mild berry tartness dominating most of the way through. A touch of sweetness at the end. Medium bodied, low carbonation, probably too low. Okay.

Bottle, BKL2019. Very orange, low head. Sweet sugary, fruity caramel, medium mellow body, sugary malt concoction, light berry, light citrus peel. Mellow body. Sweet ok body Ob the exit.
