Double American IPA with grapefruit zest

Stache Bender is a bright orange Double American India Pale Ale with explosive aromas of tangerine, pineapple, and grapefruit. The taste is a celebration of citrus hop flavors and fruit zest fuse with a slight malty sweetness, before a building bitterness resonates into a dry and warming finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazy orange golden with a white head. Aroma is very citrusy (grapefruit and orange peel), pine, a bit of sweetness. Flavor incorporates the grapefruit citrus with a bit of pine and some tropical fruit (mango?), some biscuity malt as well, and a bit of a sharpness to the bitterness. Overall though, it's pretty good, though I like the aroma slightly better than the flavor.

Draft growler poured to pint glass. Beautiful appearance in the glass. Tastes great, too. Big fruity, grapefruit nose. Slightly sweet, nicely balanced with no dominating character on the palate. Definitely a "buy again."

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/24/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear medium orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit zest, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit zest, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass; leading to some lingering hop/fruit zest astringency near the end of the glass, but not overwhelming. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous/rindy, and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden, only a light warmth lingering after the finish for 10.4%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited DIPA! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops, grapefruit zest, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV, and despite the lingering bitter/astringent flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.
