On tap at Junkyard, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out both the cocoa and lactose, with moderate toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with cocoa upfront, followed by lactose and some toasted malt. Light and watery but pleasant.

750 ml crowler into globe glass, canned on 11/11/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, cocoa nib/coffee, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, cocoa nib/coffee, and light earthy hops flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice cocoa nib/coffee sweet stout style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, cocoa nib/coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear brown with a creamy brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice cocoa and coffee combination with a dark grain backbone. Flavor has notes of bitter chocolate and coffee but is thin overall.
