Ok. It has a lot of conflict going on with the taste and it really doesn't taste Belgian (to my uneducated palate). Slightly hoppy. A bit weak body for 9.5ABV. But there is something I can't put my finger on that makes me like this beer. A little spice, some coffee, fig, raisin, cherry. . . I'm not sure. Try it. You will either like it or hate it.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/9/2015. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, date, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, date, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, date, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very deep brown to black with a tan head. Raisiny plum aroma, molasses and a bit nutty. Nutty raisin flavor (black raisin with a bit of green), molasses, with a yeasty edge, and even a nice late alcohol touch. A well-executed Belgian dark.
