A unique twist on an American-style wheat ale. The addition of wildflower honey and blood orange puree results in a medium bodied beer that is very smooth with an exhilarating nose of citrus.

HopCat Royal Oak draught, 5/10/25.
Lightly hazy, sunny orange with light copper tints. Small, off-white head.
Fruity nose without any overly crackery wheat. No excessive sugar from adjuncts or even much peppery fermentation character from the honey. Mostly it's just good, honest base malt. And clean.
Soft, very malty with soft, chewy wheat, lightly sweet honey and an earthy, slightly floral blood orange that adds gentle acidity, enough to balance. Clean, well-executed and nicely malty.

can - Hazy light yellow pour, smells of wheat and oranges. The flavor is sweet with wheat and orange. A little dry. Hint of honey. Okay beer.

Clear golden coloured body with a white head about a centimetre tall. Aroma of oranges, grain, light curacao, coriander seed, wheat, citrus and a bit of pure honey - very nice and strong. Medium-bodied; Strong rich wheat and citrus flavours dominate with a lot of grain, curacao and a little bit of honey sweetness. Aftertaste shows a lot of citrus and full orange flavours along with a bit of grain, unfinished yeast and a lot of honey sweetness throughout. Overall, a very strong and well-structured beer that goes down easily, but still shows a lot of flavours - and most of them good. Definitely worth sampling, if you can find this, especially in the summertime! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 09-October-2016.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 05/12/2015. Aroma is fairly orange forward and citrusy with some sweet honey notes and light wheat. Fairly sweet aroma. Pours a hazy, pale, yellow gold with a medium large, somewhat frothy, white head that exhibits decent retention as it falls into itself. Some lingering head on the edges with clumps in the middle. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with some medium wheat notes. Quite a bit of orange and honey character. Medium light bitterness. Some light floral and herbal hop notes in the background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but you have to want a beer with a lot of orange and honey character. It’s fairly sweet too, but easy drinking.

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned in 12/2014. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy bright golden color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big blood orange, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, wheat, bread, light honey, and light herbal/grassy hops. Damn nice aromas with prominent blood orange/citrus peel notes and moderate honey/pale malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big blood orange, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, wheat, honey, biscuit, and light herbal/grassy hops. Minimal herbal bitterness and very slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of blood orange, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, wheat, honey, biscuit, and light herbal/grass on the finish. Damn nice robustness and balance of big blood orange/citrus peel flavors and moderate honey/pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/fruit balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice fruited pale wheat ale. All around great robustness and balance of blood orange/citrus peel and honey/pale malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
