Bottle. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet dark grain and vanilla with a bit of coffee and roasted malts underlying. Flavor is more coffee forward and is backed by sweet dark grains, sweet chocolate and vanilla.

22oz bottle pours a watery but opaque black with some foamy, off white head. Nose has some muted coffee, stale malt, toast... pretty much it. Flavor is lightly sweet, malty, mild coffee, mild bread.

Bottle from Lee Discount Liquor, Las Vegas
Black color with medium sized head. Aroma of cold coffee. Dry mouthfeel, less strong than expected; flavor of stale pot coffee with some bold resiny hops.
Coffee beer? Maybe not a great idea.

22oz bomber pours with a dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up earthy malts, dark roasted malts, earthy coffee and a dash of sweet malts. The taste has nice layers of dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee and earthy milk chocolate along with a smattering of malt sweetness here and there. It approaches being burnt with black patent malts midway and into the finish. Pretty nice, this.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, char, toast, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good strength and balance of roasted malt and coffee notes; decent complexity. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, roasted malt, cocoa, light char, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted coffee and pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, char, toast, dark bread, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance of roasted malt and coffee flavors; with a fair amount of robustness and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good imperial stout. Not very complex; but has a good balance of dark malt and coffee flavors; and is very smooth to sip on. An enjoyable offering.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, earth, vanilla, prunes and quite a bit of unfinished sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavours with some lighter prunes, plums, raisins and a pungent coffee kick with a hint of anise and licorice. Aftertaste shows some thinness - with the body not as robust as most imperial stouts, this shows more of a baltic porter flavour and profile with some good roasty and caramelised sugar flavours. Overall, a decent beer - but not a decent Imperial Stout - also the coffee and vanilla flavours are very muted. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Collection in Honoulu, Oahu, Hawaii on 10-December-2012 for US$4.75 (great deal!) sampled at home back on the mainland in Washington on 17-March-2013.

Sample at the Seattle brewpub. Brownish-black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium to full body with a roasty character and flavors of black coffee, malt and hops. The finish is dry with a lingering roast coffee aftertaste. Above average overall.
