Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is dark malt, caramel toffee, cocoa, some chocolate, dried fruit with raisins, and mild roast. Flavour is sweet and light to moderate bitter. Body is medium. Pretty tasty Doppelbock.

Can, 7.5%. Brown sugar aroma, hint of acid. Dark brown colour, perhaps hazy or perhaps clear. Big stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is nicely sweet, with dark, spicy sugar notes. Caramellized malts and sugars. Once in a while, I get a small chocolate note, but nothing very powerful. Reminds me of Andechser Doppelbock, which is great, and this one is also excellent.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown, almost black colour with weak ruby shimmer and average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Rather weak, slightly roasty and chocolately, dark malty as well as yeasty fruity aroma, hints of dark chocolate, dried fruit, dark caramel, cocoa. Taste is slightly bitter, roasty, chocolately, dark malty, sweet-ish caramel malty, slightly yeasty fruity, hints of dark chocolate, dark caramel, dried fruit, cocoa, a minimally warming, alcoholic touch. Creamy texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Well crafted (meaning 'nice appearance and good mouthfeel'), not that explicit chocolately, anyway not particularly intense overall - OK.

Really dark brown with lacy head. Aroma and flavour have a great deal of depth and complexity. Burnt roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate. Hints of liquorice and blackberries. Very dry finish.
