🇬🇧 A new take on an old beer. The first edition of Gekwetst was issued in 2015 under our old name Katjelam and contained mirabelle plums. This new 2019 version is quite different, which is why we made a new entry for this beer.
🇳🇱 Gekwetst is een wijnachtig bier met een uitgesproken fruitkarakter. Deze tweede batch bevat maar liefst vier keer zoveel pruimen als de vorige en heeft malse, sappige zuren.
In de geur vind je snoepjes en steenfruit, terwijl de afdronk juist droog en licht bitter is. Ondanks de lange houtrijping van 21 maanden heeft Gekwetst geen sterk houtkarakter, waardoor de focus op het fruit blijft. Een aanrader voor mensen die Fabel lekker vonden. Gekwetst is afkomstig van een enkel vat, de oplage is zeer gelimiteerd.

Obviously aged bottle Transparant rim over clear, almost metallic orange beer, bit as rosé wine, finely carbonated. Old wood, very lambic-y aroma's, old banana's, lactic acid, fruit on winevinegar. Fruity, woody, lactic acid, mild acids, little bit of solvent. Red/pink berries, and a quite vinous finish. Light, spritzy, refreshing but very enjoyable, aromatic palate. Gets more and more vinous, whereas the nose and onset were mostly woody. Txs to Stef!

Bottle. Dark orange to pink. Quite sour plums, vanilla, wheat, oak, Nevel funk. Over medium sour, less sweet. Medium bodied. Nice but a little rough.

Bottle 208 going down! Somewhat unclear amber with white head. Sweet and funky plums. Jammy and soft herbal. Sweet and sour and fruity and tasty.

Slight hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of plums, fresh and tart, oak and a light funk. Flavour is moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle shared at lockdown 2.0 tasting. Bit hazy reddish color with small dull pink head. Dry plums, lactic wheat soft oak, marzipan, blackberries, dank funk. Medium sweet, under medium sour and bitter. Medium bodied. Lovely.

Batch #2, 6.4%. Dirty golden color. Oak, plums and vinous notes in the aroma. Just a touch of sourness. Lots of oak, plums and a hint of vanilla. Not without complexity, and a very nice beer indeed.

Pours unclear, warm amber. Small white head. Smell is funky, fruits, full. Taste is sharp, tart, spices. Tad dry. Woody, malty. Doughy, funk, lactic acid.

Botttle. Aged for 21 months on single oak barrel. Batch #2, bottled 16th of apri 2020. Bottle number 185 of 435. Color: Orangish red, very thin off-white head. Aroma: Tart, wood, wild yeast, fruity and floral plum. Taste: Moderate to over moderate tart, combined with moderate to over moderate sweet notes, fruity and bit floral plum. Oak wood and wild yeast funk in the background. (White) wine notes. Light bitterness, going to a little bit stronger bitterness and a little less fruity, like plum peel, at finish. Very vinuous mouthfeel. Medium body, low carbonation. Very nice complexity. Another very nice Nevel beer.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Rossastra/arancia, torbida, schiuma leggera. Al naso note di frutta rossa, prugne, citrica, appena acetica. In bocca è acida tagliente, dritta, fruttata, leggermente acetica. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione media. Sgraziatissima.

Pretty cloudy brownish to beige beer, practically no head. Aroma: very floral, lots of lavender, pretty oxidized, fruity, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very yeasty, bitter, lots of tannins, some grape peel, some dried fruits, bitter touch, soft acidity, some vinegar. Aftertaste: acidic, fruity, pretty oxidized, soft bitterness, bit yeasty, tannins, dry bitter finish.
