Just as the Serpent Bite and loss of Eurydice was the catalyst for Orpheus’s journey, our love for hops and sour beers was the catalyst for Orpheus Brewing. Serpent Bite is a dry-hopped, sour mash saison, with a tart bite, and notes of orange and tropical fruit.

Tap at BD Aberdeen, 2yrs old. It pours lightly hazy gold with a decent white head. The aroma is musty, funk, barnyard, sherbet, grapefruit, lemon - lime, refreshers, vinous and sour candy. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, zingy, sour candy, sherbet, refreshers, grapefruit, minerality, granny smith apple, vinous, apricot, peach, melon and soapy fink. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice funky vibes. Quaffable.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 22 Aug 2018) Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity, sourish nose with lemon, resin, lemon peel and lots of fresh hops. Tart, hoppy taste with notes of lemon, resin, grapefruit, and lots of fresh hops in a finish with a fairly gentle bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Refreshing and tart with generous amounts of hops, but not very bitter. Quite nice.

Draught @ Brewdog Brussels. Smooth, slightly tart fruity and lemony with some citrus, zesty grapefruit and mild yeastiness. Okay.

22/7/2018. Keg at BrewDog, Newcastle. Pours cloudy golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of hops, sour apricots, pineapple, citrus, orange, light herb and spice. Moderate sweetness, quite heavy sourness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Enjoyed this.
