Can from Booths Supermarket, Media City. Golden-blonde with a carbonation and a thin head. Has stated citrus notes within a tropical fruit hopped ale, but with a low citric bitterness. Has a very clean sessionable drinking texture.

Tap, ZCBW. Misty dark amber body. Malt-driven aroma, herbal notes, somewhat old-seeming. Malt-driven taste, herbal and lemony notes, light socks, ends dry with a very light bitterness. Huh. This might have been a solid beer once, but what was poured at the festival definitely wasn't nowhere near what one would expect from a Session IPA in prime shape.

Can at Rose and Thistle, Frimley Green. Vague barnyard aroma. Pale hazy gold. Thin white head. At first I thought it was extremely bubbly. I then realised that these bubbles were static - a case of small floating bits if sediment. Was suspicious at this point and spotted that the can was BB 11/04, so a week or so ago. Gave it a go - light bitter, some salty umami. A hint of citrus but minimal. Light bodied. Watery. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. Was not sure about this, will have to try again as this particular can just seemed past it. Had been in a vibrating fridge for too long perhaps. Anyway, got my £4.40 back. Bar manager wasn’t pleased about the BB date as they’d only had them a short time.

Can from Tesco. A very tasty session IPA, demonstrating why it’s one of my favourite styles
