Purchased at said fortress when we were out for another stamp in the boy's National Trust passport. Opaque dark amber gold. Thick frothy foamy white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Honey. Slightly syrupy. Flavourwise it had a medium bitterness - herbal, nettles, woody - with a slightly tart edge. Underlying sweet malts are overpowered. Light. Thin. Beneficial soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable gold. Benefits from the punchier ABV.

500ml bottle bought at Chirk Castle. Pours clear gold, white head. Aroma is lightly sweet malt, light fruity hop hints. Taste is typically gentle Monty's, clean and light with a gentle sweet undercurrent, pale malt, not as grainy as others in their repertoire. Very refreshing after a day at Chirk Castle.
