The crackling magic of Chevallier Heritage Malt courses through this English-style barleywine. A combination of bourbon, brandy, and VSOP cognac barrels cast a spirited spell over the brew and mix to manipulate space and time, opening a viscous liquid portal into what surely must be immortality.

Bottle (2022 vintage) from Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop shared at home for Henriks visit 15/08/2023 Intense sweet malty with layers of caramel and toffee like sweetness, some dried fruit shred and spices, lovely mouthfeel and body and coalescence of brandy, cognac and bourbon laced barrel action into the malty lingering close. Glorious.

Dark brown, thin head. Wouldn't say it looks good, but barley wines usually get a pass. Rich malts, almondy type notes. Big rounded barrels, lots of brandy, vanilla from the bourbon cutting in there as well. Soft, sweet on the palate. We'll call it supple. Splash of vanilla, rounded brandy, deep sugar plum profile. There's some tannin but also a little slight fruitiness, just that touch of acidity, to really pull the whole thing together. I'm not even sure if that's deliberate but it's working. Excellent.

Poured from 500mL bottle (2022 release; thanks mom for bringing it back) @ Oakes' Chinese lookout. Dark chestnut brown with small light tan head. Lots of cognac and brandy with some bourbon rounding it out, dark fruits, chocolate, toffee. Damn!
