Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný (unfiltered) is available regularly only at Na Parkanu in Plzen and, every October at selected pubs under the Volba Sladků brand. A limited number of kegs were exported to Sweden and Finland for special events. Though the beer is not kvasnicovy (yeast beer), as there is no wort or young yeast added, it is unfiltered.

Note that this is not the same as the more widespread tankovná (tank beer) or the unpasteurized (filtered) version, both of which are found throughout Prague and Czech Republic. all of these other versions should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry. Additionally, the 170 year Anniversary flip-top bottles should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry.

The version of the beer available in the brewery cellars should be rated in its own entry.

Draught at the Pivovarská šenkovna, Ústí n. L. (easter edition 2015). Little cloudy, golden colored beer. Aroma of malt, bread, some sweet fruity or flowery tones. Medium bodied, malty flavor, bready, moderately hopped.
Not bad, still it is average beer. Definitely not the best Czech pilsener.

On tap @WOB-Appleton. Seriously lucky to try this. Pours a hazy orange/gold in color. Huge, frothy, white head leaves plenty of lacing all the way down. Aromas of grain, malt, and grassy hops. Taste is well balanced between bready malts, sweet grains, and grassy hops. Light to medium sweet, with some perceived bitterness. Very smooth and incredibly drinkable.

(tap 0,5l @ U2P (Brno))
Aroma: Malty, hops.
Appearance: Hazy golden. Medium white head.
Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter. Light hops. Well balanced.
Palate: Medium body. Creamy texture. Bitter finish.
Overall: Ok, this is The Pilsner Urquell worth its name, not the boring below average stuff that they sell in bottles and in most pubs...

At na parkanau Plzen with Sarah. Aroma is yeasty, fresh pils grains and earthy spicy hops. Hazed golden bright coloured pour with a steadfast sticky white froth. Flavour is earthy spicy hops married with fresh yeast lager yeast, sweet grains. Palate is semi crisp, highish carbonation and slightly grainy on the tongue. Complex, balanced and very easy to sink. A joy. Wish there wasn’t some idiots smoking beside me.

On tap at Cardinal. It pours a lightly hazy unclear body under a dense two finger white head. Nice curtains. Light piney nose, with grass and and hay, some generic fruit notes and resins. It has a nice, subtle bitterness lurking in the back, with resins, pine cones and fruityness up front. It’s very soft and smooth on the palate, dry and pleasantly carbonated, with a pleasant bitterness in the end. Damn, this is something different from the regular industrial pilsners. I’m not blown away, but it’s sure nice. 141101
