Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný (unfiltered) is available regularly only at Na Parkanu in Plzen and, every October at selected pubs under the Volba Sladků brand. A limited number of kegs were exported to Sweden and Finland for special events. Though the beer is not kvasnicovy (yeast beer), as there is no wort or young yeast added, it is unfiltered.
Note that this is not the same as the more widespread tankovná (tank beer) or the unpasteurized (filtered) version, both of which are found throughout Prague and Czech Republic. all of these other versions should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry. Additionally, the 170 year Anniversary flip-top bottles should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry.
The version of the beer available in the brewery cellars should be rated in its own entry.

Tap at BierCaB in Barcelona. I got a bit overexcited when I saw this on their tap menu but that was after a few drinks :-). Served in a small version of a typical beer mug. Hazy golden with huge white head. Very grassy, light caramel, pils malts, herbal hops. Just lots of nice herbal notes with soft yeast and pilsmalts. Medium bitter and over light sweet. Over light bodied. Nice!

On tap Na parkánu, Pilsen, Czech Republic. Hazy golden with creamy big white head, leaving lacing. Malty aroma, very light taste. Malty sweetness, but less aroma then the filtered version. They are alike, but this one’s not better. I don’t get it. Going to the brewery tomorrow to ask them what’s the big deal.

On tap at Biercab Barcelona. AROMA: predominant spicy hop aroma, followed by a grainy and slight sweet malt background. APPEARANCE: strong gold color to light ambar and slightly hazy. moderate creamy white head with good retention. TASTE: mild spicy hop flavour with a grainy-malty note with a honey-like impression. medium bitterness with a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-low body with slight creaminess. average carbonation. OVERALL: a more robust and flavorful version of the bottled version.

Wooden barrel at Braukunst Live. Hazy golden color with tan head. A bit buttery, grassy and earthy hops, taste is earthy, grassy, and buttery hops. Crisp, bitter, balanced. *The* Czech Pilsner.Tap at Na Parkánu. Unclear golden color with creamy white head. Aroma is slight butter, clean minerals, biscuits, earthy hops. Taste is all the Pilsner goodness, earthy hops, very crisp bitter finish, soft mouthfeel, natural carbonation. Yes, this is a classic.

Caña en el Lúpulo y en Cimmeria en varias ocasiones 1 a 12 de febrero 2016. Color dorado amarillento algo velado con buena espuma blanca. Aromas y sabores maltosos frescos herbáceos. Ligeros toques citicos y amargo final suave. cuerpo medio algo pastoso y espumoso fácil de beber. Bastante buena y sobre todo comparada con la comercial. Para repetir sin duda.

Draught. Golden colour, hazy, frothy head. Aroma is intensive herbal happiness, much different than in typical Czech pisleners. Medium bitterness. Very good.

Hazy golden color with a white head with good retention. Aroma has notes of Czech hops with some bready hints. Flavor is sligtly bittery, creamy mouthfeel with some sweetness in the final.

Hmmm what is there to say about this that have not been said before. Probably nothing. If you stumble upon this rating, you might believe it is an “happy” rating. I rarely give any pilsner any higher rating than 3. But this pilsner make you realize how pilsner really should be. Not all the crap you usually get. Looks lovely with its hazed golden color and two finger thick white head. Solid lacing down the glass. Both aroma and flavor are dominated by a lovely mellow and smooth malt aroma. Lovely fresh bitterness. Medium body and a pleasant creamy soft carbonation. One more please!
