Landlord Dark originates from the multi award-winning Landlord Pale Ale but brewed with caramelised sugars to give a rich yet light and drinkable dark ale.
This perfectly balanced mellow dark beer has body and depth. It has a fruity, toasted aroma with hints of chocolate, citrus and roasted malts on the tongue. A darker shade of pale!
Malt: Golden Promise, Crystal Malt, Brown Malt, Black Malt
Whole Leaf Hops: WGV/Goldings, Fuggles, Savinjski Goldings
Yeast: Taylor's Taste Strain

A very dark brown beer, a head is quite big and beige. Aroma has caramel, some bread and roasstiness. Taste has low roastiness, some sweetness of syrup, not too sweet, anyway because of some bitterness. Medium bodied. I don't know, not inspirating this time.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 27 Nov 2019) Dark ruby colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty nose with caramel, chocolate, black rye bread and a touch of cacao. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dark fruit, liquorice, dark bread and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and very well balanced. Superb mild. Very nice.

Cask at The Bricklayers Arms, Putney - Pours a dark red black colour with a small to average sized foamy tan head. Aroma is light, roasted malts with some hints of dark berries. A moderately sweet taste, roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit flavours; plums and dark berries with a soft dryish bitterness.

Very dark brown with soapy head. Aroma and flavour have some dark malts. Bittersweet and sessionable.

Very dark, almost black. Has a strange grassy aroma and flavour with a drier finish. It absolutely doesn’t have body & depth!

On cask at The Bishops Arms - Gustav Adolfs Torg (Malm), pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a medium, bubbly beige head. Aroma brings out typical English malt, earthy notes, and a bit of soil. Flavour is along the same lines, with earthy British malt, crusty bread notes, and a slight fungal character. Clean and bready. Great cask ale.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Light subtle malt. Very easy drinking with slight metal barrel but really a very easy drinking mild that you dont get often. (21/11/19) --- Cask at Captain Cooks, Östersund. This was brilliant this time. Tasted so British, with a wonderful grass bitter hoo finish, supremely light drinking and yet a fantastic dark colour with coffee foam. 3.4 to 3.7.

Cask at the St Albans Beer festival 2019. A mostly clear nut brown chestnut coloured pour with a a lasting loose mid tan head. Aroma is earthy dusty, cake, dried fruit, berry. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, light bark, red grape, dried raisin, fruit loaf. Big flavour for the abv. Light bark. Palate is semi sweet, grainy, good cask condition.

Bottle at home from Morrisons. A perfect cellar temperature and a good head with long-lasting lacing. The taste was malt, caramel and some bittering hops, but to me they were in almost perfect balance. I normally despise a caramel taste to beer, but this one worked because of the balance. A great mouthfeel from all the malt and a hell of a lot going on when you consider the low abv. I am a fan of well made low abv beers and this is a good one.
