8/VIII/20 - 33cl can from Kromme Haring webshop @ my Social Distancing BBQ, BB: 22/V/21 (2020-737) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the can!
Clear orange beer, nice creamy bit irregular head, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty floral, very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, slightly fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: soft bitterness, fruity, tropical fruits, dry, floral, some citrus. Aftertaste: hoppy, some grapefruit, pretty bitter, floral, bit grassy. Decent, but not great.

Van de vier die ik vandaag op heb is deze het meest standaard. Ook wel weer aan de droge kant.

Can. Color: Clear golden to amber, frothy off-white head. Aroma: Citrus hop. Taste: Nice grassy / floral, some citrus and light pinetree hopbitterness, malty background. Over moderate to medium bitterness, moderate to over moderate sweet. Lightly sticky. Quite dense mouthfeel. Bittery finish. Nice one.

Clear golden colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have light floral and citrus hop notes. Certainly some tangerine. Balanced and sessionable.

IPA by Dutch superstar Kromme Haring, dry-hopped with Azacca, Centennial and Citra and intended as a go-to beer; can from BeerFreakChick, now one week less than four months old. Named after the wahoo, a commercially important fish species related to mackerel and tuna, which struck me as being quite original for a Dutch beer because this species does not occur in Dutch waters... But neither do the beluga or the barracuda, of course. Egg-white, medium thick, very mousy, irregularly but tightly lacing, partially opening but generally very stable head on a cloudy peach blonde beer with rosy tinge. Luscious aroma of pink grapefruit flesh, ripe mango, orange water, lychee, moist white pepper, peach candy, papaja, Honeydew, passionfruit jam, lemongrass, white bread dough, hints of fresh peppermint leaf, Siberian kiwi, marmalade, ripe banana, lime zest, dried wormwood leaf. Crisp but still 'tropical' onset, lots of ripe blood orange, mandarin, mango and lychee but with a clear, sharply sweet banana ester accent piercing through as well; medium carbonation, active but in a very gentle way, very light lime-like sourish edge. Soft, smooth and almost creamy mouthfeel, a 'soil' of slenderly doughy malts profoundly aromatized by lush, citrusy and tropical hoppiness, pushing up retronasal wafts of papaja, blood orange and lychee but also executing a late and mild, yet structurally important hint of peppery bitterness. The sultry tropical effect keeps being refreshed by that more tangy citric note provided by a generous dose of Citra, luckily; so all is well that ends well, in a bright, citric, bittersweet 'dream' of hoppiness. One has to be careful in buying IPAs these days: even a Dutch go-to IPA can be a juicy, sultry New England style IPA apparently, but Kromme Haring has proven before that they know how to handle this style. In spite of the Dutch craft beer revolution being one of the most 'dramatic' we have seen in the past decades, there still aren't too many Dutch breweries that produce hazy IPAs at the level of quality that is offered by Kromme Haring (Uiltje is obviously the most important competitor in this respect) and this Wahoo is a clear testimony of that. I would never choose a New England style IPA as a go-to beer, but this one does tick all the boxes and is very clearly a product of a well-informed, up-to-date and technically very skilful craft brewery. No complaints here - exemplary enough for a (kind of) NEIPA with still some pungent and peppery-citric 'oomph' to it.

Can at home. Hazy orange golden with white head. Soft juicy stuff in here, but also green and spicy hops. It's an hazy IPA but more IPA than hop juice. Light malts and dry wheat. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with a but dry finish. Tasty stuff.
