Copper colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some light caramel notes. There's a moderate background bitterness but it lacks bright, fresh hoppy notes.

APA from this enthusiastic Italo-Belgian beer company, bottle from Prik & Tik in Zele; hopped with six American hop varieties. Medium sized, tightly 'membranous' lacing, eggshell white, somewhat creamy head breaking open in patches, over a lightly hazy pale orange-hued peach blonde beer with salmon pinkish tinge and a diffuse 'fog' of yeast at first. Aroma of dried grapefruit peel, fresh wormwood leaves and tonic water, quinine, unripe green pear, melon, dry bread crust, fainter notes of paint thinner, spoiled leek soup, fennel, red apple, celery, sweet paprika powder, melting rubber somewhere. Sweetish onset, pointing at pineapple, pear and a dash of lychee with a sourish undertone, the sourishness enhanced by spritzy but not overly coarse carbonation; moderately oily, but otherwise thinnish mouthfeel. Cereally, rounded malt body with a caramelly and very thinly peanutty edge, ongoing fruit aspects, sweeter in the middle than in the onset; bitter finish, spicy, very resiny and "white underside citrus peel" hoppiness, wormwood, a tad piney perhaps but at the same time a tad rubbery and harsh as well, long and spicy with juicy, caramelly malt sweetishness still persisting in the very end. A bit harsh and unrefined, but certainly not the worst White Pony around - and as I argued before, these guys should have traded Gaverhopke for Het Nest and now, apparently, Millevertus a long time ago. I noticed that their 'old' beers, originally made at Gaverhopke and bottled in fiercely gushing steinis, are now continued at Nest and / or Millevertus as well and I should consider Black Sheep, The Crow or Dark Signs giving a second chance because of it. As for this one: qualifies as a West Coast IPA of sorts considering its uncompromizing, citrus peel bitterness and needs a more elegant, refined, less harshly bitter and more sweetishly orangey profile to be a good APA which was apparently the intention, but the hophead in me is not disappointed. Could drink more than one of these without any problem.
