A collaboration and friendship born from a shared reverence for a beer style, Hoeybier is an homage to Peter Hoey and his now legendary Saison. That beer was a fine-tuned interpretation of the classics. We built upon its edifice and aged ours in Odonata Wines’ Riesling and Chardonnay barrels. The bright and hoppy result is something we are very proud to share with you. Sante!

Thanks to Maakun! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ ZZT 2017. Hazy to murky orange. Nose is apricot, orange peel, low sour, nice fruit, mellow funk. Taste is low plastic upfront, some green bell pepper funk bit odd with stone fruit, mellow, funk more in the back, fruity low vinous funk. Subtle, interesting funk, low minor notes but overall nice delicate funky beer.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is nice and fruity with some light acidity and citrus notes. Light grain character. Some white wine notes and light oak notes. Hints of stone fruit and melon. Pours a hazy, pale, yellow gold with a small, moderately thick, white head that slowly recedes to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is lightly acidic with some light lemon notes. Light grain notes and a dry finish. Light oak and white wine tannins. Hints of stone fruit and melon with moderate grape notes. Light bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and soft with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, soft saison with great white wine notes. I like the white wine character and find it adds great complexity to the base saison. Nice citrus and fruit notes as well.
