We are really excited about this new batch of Hop Wave 5. It is the first beer that uses the new harvest of Galaxy from Pete’s trip to Australia. We are thrilled with the characteristics of this crop and what it contributes to the beer in both aroma and flavor and look forward to the many more delicious Galaxy-forward beers to come from this harvest.

Hop Wave 5 takes one of our favorite Citra/Galaxy DIPAs, dHop5, supersizes the hop charge and adds a touch of lactose. Aside from all the great things about this beer, it includes an experiment to boost the citrus character of its aroma. We will continue to apply this to the next several releases for evaluation but we’re very pleased with the effect.

Hop Wave 5 pours a milky straw yellow releasing pungent aromas of citrus, pineapple, passion fruit, and peach all integrated with a sorbet twist. The taste is a soft and bright creamy tropical flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced with a punch of our signature #EQjuice. Don’t sleep on this one!

Tap at Hopa, koszi TD! Hazy, murky golden pour with thin white head. Nose is sweet notes of tropical fruits, apricot, lightly grassy hops. Taste is also pretty sweet, showing fruity hops (apricot and mango), candy-like notes, even a hint of malts and just a faint grassy character on top. Closes with long lasting, sweet and sticky finish, has medium to full body and soft to average carbonation. Decent, but almost too sweet to my liking.

47cl Blik van Beer Republic. Niet heel vers meer ondertussen. Troebelgele kleur, witte kraag. Tropisch fruit, lactose, licht bloemig, citrus, perzik, redelijk zoet, weinig bitter. Medium body. OK.

US Pint can at Farmers Bar, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy light golden orange colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is light peachy, orange. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, somewhat rich, light herbal, juicy peach, tart grapefruit pineapple, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Well hidden alcohol.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Jammy mango aroma. Ridiculously sweet with medium to full body and rounded mouthfeel. Saccharine and oversweetened tropical fruit yoghurt for kids. Burning artificial sweetness in a finish without bitterness. IPA for 5 year olds?
