We are really excited about this new batch of Hop Wave 5. It is the first beer that uses the new harvest of Galaxy from Pete’s trip to Australia. We are thrilled with the characteristics of this crop and what it contributes to the beer in both aroma and flavor and look forward to the many more delicious Galaxy-forward beers to come from this harvest.
Hop Wave 5 takes one of our favorite Citra/Galaxy DIPAs, dHop5, supersizes the hop charge and adds a touch of lactose. Aside from all the great things about this beer, it includes an experiment to boost the citrus character of its aroma. We will continue to apply this to the next several releases for evaluation but we’re very pleased with the effect.
Hop Wave 5 pours a milky straw yellow releasing pungent aromas of citrus, pineapple, passion fruit, and peach all integrated with a sorbet twist. The taste is a soft and bright creamy tropical flavor that is dangerously drinkable and balanced with a punch of our signature #EQjuice. Don’t sleep on this one!

Draft. An unclear golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, pine needles, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with hops, lemons, exotic fruits, spices, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Pours a hazy, golden-pineapple color, with minimal head. Aroma is citrus and rotting tropical fruit. Flavor is citrus and tropical fruit, with a big punch of pine-hop bitterness in the mix. Full, soft mouthfeel.
