The Norwegian saying "De gamle er eldst" has an English equivalent in "The older the flute, the sweeter the tune". Weihenstephan is the worlds oldest brewery, and we are very proud to have brewed this wonderful Weizenbock with them at Nøgne Ø.

On tap at Patrick's. A murky orangey brown colored beer with a dense finger thick light beige head leaving curtains. Doesn't look very sexy, but I still like the look of it, mostly because I know what style it is I think. There's lots of banana and toffee on the nose, with hints of chocolate, lemon, cloves and alcohol. It's full bodied and creamy on the palate, appropriately carbonated and quite sweet, with a light warming touch and quite a lot of bitterness. At least quite a lot for a weizenbock. Toffee, banana, sweetness, some chocolate and hints of alcohol and resins in the flavor. Lasting finish. A beer that seems to mix the philosophies of the two breweries very well, and it's very pleasant to enjoy a glass as well. Sure not all all-nighter. 170125

11.01.2018, tap @ Pingvinen:
Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet yeasty, broth, overripe banana, yeast, minerals, grass, hay, wheat, old leafs, minerals, bark, flowers, paper, toast. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, hay, yeast, minerals, grass, overripe banana, paper, fruit stones, toast, wheat, broth, bark, soil. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly watery and harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Not really my cup of coffee.
