A red-eye flight is any flight departing late at night and arriving early the next morning. The term derives from the fatigue symptom of having red eyes, which can be caused or aggravated by late-night travel.

Shake off and wake up with our powerful and rich mocha porter, Red Eye Flight. It starts with our rich and roasty blend of seven malts, before adding in high-quality organic cacao and finishing off with a cold-infusion of Three Hills Coffee’s Sumatran coffee beans, roasted exactly to our specification. Crack one open to unleash a waft of fresh ground coffee aroma, followed by a smooth mouthfeel, and creamy toffee, coffee acidity, and bitter cocoa nib flavour.

Bottle at home (I mean where else?!). Pours jet black with thin, quickly disappearing brown head. Nose is sweet altogether, big coffee, dark chocolate, whiskey, a touch of vanilla. Taste is a hint of nougat, booze, bourbon, faint vanilla again. Long sweet finish, medium oily body, soft carbonation.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, beany coffee, some vanilla and caramel. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate to medium roasty bitterness. Body is full with some booze. Balanced with some nice barrel notes.

330 ml bottle, from the brewery webstore. ABV is 12%. Pitch black colour, moderate to small brown head. Distinct aroma of coffee and roast malts, hints of bourbon, cocoa, oak and vanilla. Sweet and roasty flavour, again distinct notes of coffee, also fairly distinct notes of bourbon, oak and vanilla, more subdued cocoa. Warming mouthfeel.

Black and oily with creamy head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of bitter coffee sweet vanilla. There's even a light smokiness to it. Really silky.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of earthy coffee, woody bourbon and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same; black earthy coffee, soft woody bourbon, dry roasted malts and a bit of dusty dark chocolate. No hint of the ABV, just dry and rich. A very good coffee beer.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, London (last autumn). A black coloured pour with a decent beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, slightly sweet, bourbon aroma and taste. Really nice bourbon action.

Bottle shared with bro et wife. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, deep coffee character, oily, bourbon barrel, chocolate bourbons, rock road and brownies. The taste is dry, some bitterness, bitter - sweet, slick, rich roasted malt, kick of bourbon, toffee, oily, chewy, thick and cakey, chocolate gateaux, toasty, rich coffee character, vanilla, light toasted coconut and some charred wood with a slick, mocha finish. Fulsome body, light carbonation and slick mouth feel. Rich and unctuous stuff. Fun.
