In june 2018, we brewed this international gruit ale with our friends from Altbrau, Bretty Fingers, Nevel artisanal ales and Brauerei Kemker. We used a bit of hops early in the brew, and then infused the wort in the coolship with myrica gale, bedstraw, hogweed and bay laurel. Bottled October 2019.

Bottle with a friend. Quite spicy aroma with bog myrtle, clove, grainy malt. Nicely sour with some sweetness and bitterness. Body is medium. Gruit beer, don't tend to like 'em much but this sourness makes the beer.

750ml bottle. Funky and herbal with some sourness and tartness, earthiness and farmyardy notes, hints of bitterness. Interesting

750ml bottle split. Pours clear-ish orange to amber with a frothy white head. Aroma: herbal, lemon thyme, citrus, straw, flowers, funk. Taste is similar, albeit more complex. Moderate tartness, yeasty, woody, prominently herbal, some minerality. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation. Lovely gruit.

I am ‘gruit’… herbal, grassy, the sourness saves this a bit for me, bitter finish, berm en snoeiafval dus… gagel 😔 niet mijn ding

Taster, many thanks to Sander! Orange-amber, quite clear body, with a medium, fluffy, yellowish head. Fresh aroma of herbs, lemon thyme, straw, flowers, moderate Brett, citrus. Tastes quite similar, while more complex, with the Brett more prominent. Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes quite bitter, moderate sour, Bretty, wooden, herbal, floral, citric, a bit minty, with some stone fruits. Tasty. Really fresh, herbal nose, while the taste is really complex and rich, with more Brett and a characterful, quite bitter finish. Really lovely, unique stuff. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

750ml bottle shared with the KL tasting crew. Poured a hazy medium amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is funky yeast, citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate sour, with a crisp, dry yeasty, tart citrus, mineral, big dry woody hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
