Bottle (courtesy of Koelschtrinker). Wheat/barley malt aroma with hint of lemon. Cloudy blonde color with moderate head. Sour lactic malt - rather bland. Extra points for being unfiltered - unfortunately doesn’t add much flavor.

Frisch hopfiger Beginn, der schnell blumige Noten hervorbringt. Süffige und angenehme, zum Ende steigende Bitterkeit. Natürlich, untypisch hopfig für ein kölsch. Im Verlauf recht hefig und getreidig. Süffiges und stimmiges Bier!

(swing-top-bottle, received by trade from Koelschtrinker) Hazy, pale golden colour with a huge and quite persistent foamy white head, which makes it a bit difficult to drink. Moderately sweet distinctively lemon-fruity, yeasty and grainy aroma. Yeasty-bitter flavour, light bodied with a lively carbonation. Yeast-dominating, grainy, slightly worty taste; a bit medicinic, yeast-bitter finish. Definitely not perfectly rounded, but still somewhat refreshing and drinkable Wiess.

Stupendous off-white head, near-gushing; over well-carbonated yellow-golden beer. Milky and sharp grainy nose; I have a medicinal-manure impression - of infection? Sharp near-bitter taste, most remindful of arachide and rather crude bittering hops. Grain and rancid peanuts (fatty acids?), falling away quickly. Sharp burning MF, not very well-bodied, empty finish connected. Alas rather unpleasant acquaintance with the newest Kölner brewpub. I have no doubt the beer is better there on tap - but bottling shows the true colours, I think. Thanks for the haul, SebS!

Tap, at the brewpub: Pale golden, slightly hazy, slowly diminishing medium-sized white head; fruity, a bit "green" and yeasty nose with a dash of grassy hops in the background; quite dry, distinctive bitter flavour, fizzy, light bodied; a bit longer lasting bitter finish with some lemony illusions. A well-made, hop-accented Kölsch, not so boring as many other members of this "family"..........
