Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is spicy with dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, cinnamon, liquorice, nutmeg, cardamom, speculaas, and coffee. Flavour is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Full body with a touch of booze. Liquid speculaas and/or stroopwafel, nice!

27/4/2019. Bottle from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge, shared at the 3rd Kesgrave bottle share. Pours black with a bubbly/frothy tan coloured head. Aroma of liquorice, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, molasses and dark fruit. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. Rich, deep chocolate finish, not over-powering on the alcohol. We enjoyed this one!

Bottle. Pours almost black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, cardamom. Taste follows nose with some syrupy notes, almost a bit medicinal, not really getting the waffles. Decent, but not great.

17/II/18 - on tap @ Frontaal tasting room (Breda) - BB: n/a (2018-186)
Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweetish, some liquorish, cola candy, dried fruits, molasses, sweetish, caramel, on warming up also lots of overripe banana. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, lots of alcohol, spicy bitterness, some liquorish, more alcohol, pretty roasted. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, nice roast, liquorish, hoppy, dry, caramel, mocha and coffee, dark chocolate, pretty sugary. Not getting any cinnamon from the stroopwafels?

Black with thin dark head. Aroma and flavour have obvious bittersweet caramel overtones. Rich, oily texture. The spices are notable but not overpowering.

Tap sample at Mout. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of liquorice, laurel, cardamom, roast, mocha. Flavour is sweet at first, mocha, caramel, roast, quite some liquorice and spice, later more bitter, roast, coffee. Medium to full bodied. Didn’t get any stroopwafels, but it’s a good stout.
