At Café De Zwaan, Maastricht. From their walk-in fridge. Shared with Anke.
Pours cloudy black with a frothy, beige head. The aroma contains cookie dough, cinnamon, syrup, caramel, some spices & vanilla, 'kruidnoot' and 'peperkoek' (pepper cake). It tastes light to medium dough-like/syrupy sweet and light spicy bitter; comparatively shorter finish. Full body, slick/oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Very unusual for an Imperial Stout; indeed full of cookie delight. Well done but definitely not up there with the best.

Pitch black pour with a tan head. Notes of roasted (or burnt) malt, smoke, molasses, anise star, dark chocolate, mint, a bit of vanilla and a bit of caramel. Full body, thick and viscous, low carbonation and a sweet and lightly spicy finish.

Bottle from het Biermoment, dated 05/09/2017, 33cl sample. Dark brown color, short brown head. Aroma has caramel and toffee, but also some minty and rhummy notes, which maybe comss from the burned caramel combined with some spices like cinamon and clove? This comes back in the taste as well. Burns a bit in the back of the alcohol. I dont get a lot of stroopwafel sensation and the balance could be a bit better with the alcohol dominating somewhat.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Black with tan head. Sweet dark roasted malts with spices and floral notes up front. Stroopwafelstroop, speculaas, licorice, waffle dough. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Bit boozy. Quite nice but the aromas are hardly recognizable as stroopwafels.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Black with light brown head. Cinnamon, strong caramel, licorice, lot of spices, speculaas more than stroopwafel, alcohol, flowery, toffee, cognac, light roast, schnapps. Over medium sweet with herbal and alcoholic bitterness. Almost full bodied with soft carbonation. Very herbal and spicy with quite some booze. It sort of works well but I wouldn't say "stroopwafel" if I didn't read the label.
