I did not expect it to be dark in color. This is less soir than some of the other Petrus beers. Light blueberry. Make, yeast and mild acidity.

Deep, dark brown coloured body with a rich, three to four centimetre tall pure blue and violet head - nice! Aroma of tart cherries, a ton of blueberries, yeast and herbal funk and a bit of pure caster sugar notes - sweet and strong with fruit in the nose. Medium-bodied; Assertive blueberry and cherry flavours at first with a large and noticeable tart and sour flavour coupled with some well-balanced sugars and light funk from the yeast makes this very nice and elegant without being cloying. Aftertaste shows mostly fruit with a tart and crisp cranberry flavour at first, then a pleasant and relatively subdued malt profile and ends with a dry, sour and tart flavour mostly from the fruits, but also from the belgian yeast strain which gives it more of a dry finish. Overall, a nicely balanced and executed sour with a TON of blueberry and fruit notes, but also remaining complex and elegant throughout with a bunch of sweetness from all the fruits. I sampled this 75 cL corked and caged bottle purchased from Trader Joe's in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-October-2017 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 11-January-2018.

750ml bottle fro Trader Joes. Deep, thick, deepest violet body. Big purple stained head. They really get a lot of color from the berries or extract. Tastes more along the lines of Belgo-alco-pop to me...like the sugary stuff you can get for a dollar there and pound on the streets from a can. A little bit of a boozy undertone, completely drinkable, but with the amped up artificial blueberry tone it comes off like a wine cooler. I don't really get any of the Aged Pale Ale tones any more, the deep extract candy fruit tones dominate. Has a pleasant sour aroma...that is my favorite part of the beer. OK, but certainly doesn't nail it.

Pours deep frothy blueberry into a tulip. Maroon head with good retention recedes to mottle surface. Sour blueberry aromas. Crisp with mild blueberry and earthy skin upfront turning to red grape juice in the medium length finish.

750 c&c from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours deep purple with a transient light purple head. Aroma is blueberry with some funk. Med body or better. Flavor is blueberry, funk, oak. It's more tart/sour than tart. Pretty dry; pretty sour. Somewhat astringent. Pretty much a blueberry thing. Very nice.

Deep purple pour. Acidic fruit, berries, light funk, and medium sourness. Dry, tart finish with some lingering berry. Medium body with solid carbonation. Enjoyable.
