This is a full-bodied porter, one step away from being a stout. Black in color, full of sharp black malt bitterness and a hint of roast barley, Cole Porter also bursts forth with a surprising hop aroma and flavor.

Draft at the brewpub. Toasted malt aroma. Dark opaque black color with no real head. Near medium body with minimal carbonation. Light roast (touch of toast) malt with floral bitter and a hint of coffee. Finishes dry, but not astringently so. Really rather refreshing in a dark way.

Draught at the brewpub. Black, near no head. Tarry licorice aroma. Aggresive resiny hops makes up most of the flavour. Dryish, yet syrupy. Tarry roasty finish. Some interesting flavours, but feels quite rough.

(On tap) 4.3% ABV in my version. A black and opaque beer with the most beautiful and delicate, creamy, beige head leaving a broad curtain of laces. Aroma of lightly burned malts. Fairly light-bodied with accents of hard roasted malts - and then nothing much more. The bitterness is light and short. A light and very elegant British style session Porter. 210307
