12 oz bottle pour. Pours a dark brown color with barely any head. I’m starting to think I just love porters all around, and this one was no exception. Nice roasted chocolate malt aroma. Gentle roasted flavor, medium body brew. A bit of dark chocolate on the finish. Looking forward to trying more from these guys. I’ll be visiting them soon. Good beer.

Pours black with small head that disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate and smoke. Taste is more chocolate, dry finish, getting better as it warms.

Tap at Cascade Lakes Lodge, Bend, 23/05/13. Light black with a thin tan head. Nose is roast malt, light chocolate, dark toffee. Taste comprises roast malt, chocolate, light biscuit, leather. Medium bodied, carbonation is a little overcooked and spritzed up for my liking, bitter roast in the finish. Ok stout.

Super dense, deep brown coloured body with a large, two or three centimetre tall brown head - very nice looking. Aroma of super pungent alcohol, nuts, chocolate, earth, peat and even nutmeg. Medium-bodied; Dense malty flavour at first with tons of chocolate, some nuts, a bit of anise and fennel seed with a hint of cacao or white pepper on the finish. Aftertaste quite complex given the style, but some spice notes play out with a bit of an earthiness mixed with the chocolate and robust malt flavours. Overall,a very nice porter with some good flavours and even better complexity - still easy to drink, too! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 28-February-2012 for US$1.65 sampled at home in Washington on 13-August-2012.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that produced some lacing. The aroma was dry and roasty with notes of vanilla, chocolate and anise. The flavor was dry, bitter and very roasty with faint coffee, anise and vanilla. The finish was long, dry, very bitter and very roasty. Medium to thin body. Not my style but ok.

Funky (in a good way) aroma of roasted barley, mushrooms. charcoal. Dark brown, headless. Coffee and charcoal flavor. Mushroomy barley finish. My impression of this beer screams blue collar. It isn’t because it’s cheap or of poor quality. The taste just brings to mind a familiarity with work where one gets covered in soot and grime. This is a highly drinkable porter, ideal after a hard day’s work.

#900. Black with ruby highlights and minimal head. Aroma of chocolate, light roasted malts, mocha like coffee, a touch of milk and vanilla. Thin body with a little too much carbonation. Flavor isn’t quite as nice as the aroma. Chocolate, coffee, and light roasted malts. A bit one-sided. Finishes with some bitter chocolate. Decent, but not that amazing.
