19 May 2019. At SWAFFF!, Brussels. Cheers Anke, Erwin & Ama Deke! Hazy black, lasting, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of coffee bean, earth, tobacco, wet leaves, fondant, tree bark, bit chemical (oxidised perhaps?). Taste is light malty sweet, biscuit & nuts with restrained dark fruits (raisin, fig), going over a medium roasted bitter middle with earth, tobacco & coffee, sourish effect & rubbery undertone. Dry, earthy hoppy finish, lingering ash, toast, wood (bark-like), with slightly astringent, warming alcohol (vodka). Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not very refined.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A/20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 1817 (BBF 09.2021). AROMA: medium cocoa notes with faint coffee. APPERANCE: black color and opaque. excessive brown head, creamy, with good retention. TASTE: medium to medium-high cocoa with a low coffee presence. medium-low background of roasted malt. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with initial excessive carbonation. slight alcohol warmth. OVERALL: an imperial stout with added chocolate and coffee a bit unidimensional.

330 ml. bottle @ Beer Station in Lisbon. Waxed bro! Like really rubbish wax. Black, mocha head. Nose is soy sauce, mocha plastic herbal, cacao,… Weird bit plastic, grainy herbal, varnish, low boozy, rather plastic heavy but fun & pleasant all the same.
