Gamme Grande Cuvée. Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a little white foamy head which fairly quick dissipated; subtle lace
Aroma: roasted coffee beans, dark roasted malts, light toast, smokiness and some dark and milk chocolate tones
Flavor: slight bitterness from the dark chocolate and coffee beans, but also a nice sweet smokiness and an added sweetness from the milk chocolate further underneath, no aftertaste
Texture: medium bodied, she's a sipper! extremely smooth along my tongue and finishes with a substantial depth of the smokness
Overall: what a damn fine Baltic porter and would definitely have again if I could find a bottle!

Low tan head on a near black body. Nose is subtle and sweet, with coffee and mild chocolate with undertones of toffee and berries. A beautifully blended, clean and rich porter. Smooth coffee and chocolate elements, cherries, dark berries, a touch of crème brule, and soft roasted malt add to a subtle blend. Clean, fresh finish as expected with a bottom-fermented lager-based dark beer. Minimal stickiness and residual sweetness.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Dark brown to black, unclear, with a small beige head. Roasted malts, oatmeal biscuits, coffee, dark chocolate and some toffee and dark dried fruit in the aroma. Alcohol notes. It's full bodied, lightly warming, very gently but pleasantly carbonated. Semi-sweet. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark dried fruit and brown sugar in the flavor. Toffee and oatmeal. Lasting finish. Delicious indeed. 250430

Black with a medium tan head. Sweet dark malts, dark ripened fruit, a touch of molasses, chocolate, vanilla, burnt malt. Full bodied. Finish has red fruits and chocolate. A joy to drink.

Loads of sweet malts, sweet burnt malts, fruit, and an odd olive oil aroma. Very sweet flavor more of this semi tart roasted malt. Very good mouthfeel, a touch oily. Great roasty finish, lots of espresso, and burnt malts. A nice porter, but not great.

(750ml 2014 vintage bottle from somewhere found in the cellar) Pours basically black with a small ring of tan. Notes of nicely rich roasted malts for the age, burnt sugars and moderate toast, some nice umami smokiness, dried and dark fruits, dusty coffee, soft but present woody notes from the cherry-smoked malt I guess, moderately sweet up front but drying somewhat in the finish, edges of the crispness you'd expect from a bottom-fermented beer. Medium bodied, oily, soft but active carbonation. A bottle that held up very well given its age and multiple cellar moves; I think I last had this beer before I joined RB and it reminded me of what it was like fresh back then.
