Why does the oldest "original" pale ale in BC have to taste so bad? Had a good many pitchers of this back in the day in Vancouver and remember thinking it was better than Molson at least, and it was. But that’s pretty much it. Pours amber-like, smells like trashy malt. Taste is astringent. Not sure if it’s hops or chemico-hops. Trying their hardest to be macro. Bottle.

Originally rated May 2005. Pours an amber colour with not head, and hardly any retention. The nose is quite hoppy with hints of weet malt. Very light carbonation. Watered down mouthfeel. Good malt flavour and hops in the brew, but not a keeper.

Draught @ The Charlatan, Vancouver, BC

Pours light orange with a small head. Aroma has notes of grass and pine. Taste is quite light with hints of grass and hops. Bitter, smooth finish. Light bodied, quite unbalanced.

It’s a pale ale all right and goes down quite easily, with very little coming in between you and the drinking - including a flavour, an aroma, an admiration of beer brewing in general. This is a backyard barbeque brew, and that’s fine, and it makes it passable as such, but it’s easily forgettable.

2011-07-30, draught at Cardero’s Restaurant, Vancouver, 5-3-5-2-9=24
Amber color, light aroma and watery flavor, with a breadish impression and low bitterness. Boring.

2010-03-16, draught at Big Ridge, Surrey, BC, 4-3-5-2-9=23
Light amber color; creamy head. The aroma is too light. The flavor, even if light, carries some caramel; dry mouthfeel, strong bitterness, a bit metallic in the end. Forgettable.

2008-07-16, bottle, 5-3-6-2-11= 27
Amber color. A very plain Ale, some caramel flavor, ordinary bitterness, no special hops. Regular.

Bottle: Poured a light copper ale with a small foamy head with good retention. Aroma of English hops with very subtle caramel malt. Taste of malt is a bit too subtle but medium presence of English hops save this from being dreadful. By no mean is this great but I had way worse then this beer.
