Dark brown with a beige head. Big coffee aroma. Bitter with lots of roast. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation. Tasty.

Pours a slight hazy copper colour with a big creamy-frothy light mocha-coloured head with great retention and some creamy streaks of lacing left. Aromas of roasted malts with notes of chocolate, liquorice, caramel, grassy hops and toasted barley. The taste shows the malts being watered-down, as the hops are pretty present... all the way. Gets quite bitter in the finish, but not too dry. A very hoppy brown ale with not too much toastiness - as the name says.

473mL can, pours a deep dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, with a slight earthy character. Flavour is fairly robust for the style, with toasted malt, earthy notes, and a touch of bitterness. Earthy and toasty. Good stuff.

473ml can. Cloudy, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and average, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Nutty and slightly chocolately, malty aroma, weak citrusy hoppy overtones with a touch of mandarine and orange, some tobacco. Taste is bitter, nutty, toasty malty, notes of bitter coffee, hints of Brazil nut, grassy hoppy overtones, a touch of tobacco.

Draft: Poured a clear brown color ale with a nice off-white foamy head. Aroma of light smoky flavours with caramelized malt is very enticing. Taste is also a nice mix of smoky flavours with some caramelized malt notes with light smoky undertones and light residual sugar notes are also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Easy drinking smoked beer.

Bouteille 500ml.

(31 mars 2013)
