We named this jet black beer after the mighty Rio Grande river, which flows 3.000 km from Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico. We imagine pump jacks along the Texan desert plains flowing with rich crude oil... Guess we are just weird like that.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, loads of bourbon barrel notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light vanilla, very nice and rich. On tap at Anarkist bar Copenhaguen.

bottle from natholdets julekalender #11 pitch dark, brown head. surprisingly mild aroma, i get roasted malts and licorice, full bodied. flavor is licorice, salt, wood chips, caramel syrup, sweet nuts, vanilla, coca. the bottle text calls this a dessert stout, which I agree, it has gotten its fair share of cocoa, vanilla and whatnot else. not exactly how I like my imperial stout, but not so bad after all. There is a dark caramelly bitterness i could do without, and all the dessert stuff makes it taste like someone dropped filled caramel chocolate into my stout, which i would like them to please stop doing.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Sweet vanilla dominates the aroma with also the lactose chiming in. Rich, potent and creamy body, again with vanilla and lactose in the forefront. Roast is there but it's all very sweet bordering cloying to be honest, although some late roasty bitterness offers a little balance. Late warming alcohol. 101219

Bottle, 12%. The aroma of rather weak for the style. Perhaps some sweet liquorice. Black colour. Very small light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet and has a good spicy note, nutmeg and cinnamon, I think. Low carbonation. Oily mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of yeast and malt, with touches of coffee. Sweetish flavour of malt, yeast and chocolate, with notes of lactose, dried fruit and vanilla. Malty and estery aftertaste, with lactic and fruity hints. Warming alcohol presence. Quite nice.
